Tumburu Teertham is a sacred lake located amidst dense natural vegetation in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India. Getting There
Tumburu Teertham is located about 12 kilometers from Tirumala and 7 kilometers from Papavinasanam. It's not accessible by public transport. The Teertham is generally open for public visit only on one day a year, which is Chaitra Poornima, which usually falls in the month of March. There is a 7-kilometer trek from Papavinasanam to reach the Teertham. The route is quite scenic with five waterfalls along the way. Pastikan you bring your own food and water as there are no stores nearby.
Legend
According to the legend, Tumburu Teertham is associated with the sage Agastya and the Gandharva Tumburu. Tumburu's wife was cursed to become a toad due to her laziness. The curse was lifted when sage Agastya visited the place with his disciples.
