The Sardar Patel Zoological Park is not actually located in Vadodara, but rather in Kevadia, a town in the Narmada district of Gujarat, India. It's a relatively new zoo, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 31, 2020, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
One of the interesting things about this zoological park is that it's designed to give visitors a jungle safari experience. Unlike traditional zoos where animals are confined in cages, the Sardar Patel Zoological Park uses an "open design" which recreates the natural habitat of the animals. The park is spread over a vast expanse of land, about 1300 acres, with enclosures at seven different levels ranging from an altitude of 29 meters to 180 meters. This allows visitors to see the animals in a more natural setting. The park is home to more than 186 species of fauna, covering various biomes of Africa, Australia, Asia and America.
Visitors can explore the park using golf carts, which adds to the sense of being on a real safari. The park is also home to a number of endangered species, including Asiatic lions, Royal Bengal tigers, and leopards.
