The Ropar Wetlands, also known as Ropar Lake, is a man-made wetland complex located in the Rupnagar district of Punjab, India, at the foothills of the Shivalik range of the Himalayas. While it is listed as being near Anandpur Sahib, it is actually about 50 kilometers away.
Created in 1952, the Ropar Wetlands cover an area of approximately 1,365 hectares and consists of a network of man-made and natural wetlands. It is a haven for birdwatchers, with over 150 species of birds calling the Ropar Wetlands home, including migratory birds. Some of the endangered species you might spot here include the Siberian crane, black-necked stork, painted stork, and sarus crane.
