Rolwaling Valley is a secluded Himalayan trekking region west of Solukhumbu, beneath the Gauri Shankar massif. Its upper valley contains Sherpa settlements including Beding and the seasonal settlement of Na, while the route passes forests, glaciers and Cho Rolpa glacial lake. The high Tashi Labsta pass connects the Rolwaling side with trails leading toward the Khumbu region.
Trekking in Rolwaling Valley is strenuous and involves altitude, remote terrain and rapidly changing mountain conditions. Nepal Tourism Board guidance identifies Rolwaling Trek and Tashi Labsta Pass Trek among routes requiring a licensed guide and an agency-issued TIMS card. Travellers should use an authorised trekking agency, build in acclimatisation time and confirm permits, weather and trail conditions before departure. The pass itself is suited to experienced, properly equipped parties with relevant mountain skills.
