The Monumental Fountain (Nymphaeum) in Side, Turkey is a stunning example of ancient Roman architecture. Built during the reign of Emperor Vespasian in the 2nd century, it was once the personification of eminence in the country.
The fountain is a three-story structure with a beautiful facade adorned with statues, frescoes, marble work, niches, and Corinthian columns. Water for the fountain was supplied from the nearby Manavgat River through an aqueduct. The pool is enclosed by a parapet wall with inscriptions of mythological scenes, many of which are linked to the city's famous Epibaterios festival.
