Gurdwara Data Bandi Chhod is a Sikh gurdwara located in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India. It is one of the most important Sikh gurdwaras in the world, and is associated with the imprisonment of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji in Gwalior Fort and his celebrated release in which he managed to win the freedom of 52 Rajas (Kings) who had long suffered imprisonment in the Fort. The word "Bandi" means "imprisoned", "Chhor" means "release".
The gurdwara is situated on top of a hill, and offers panoramic views of the city of Gwalior. The complex includes a main gurdwara, a langar hall, a library, and a museum. The main gurdwara is a beautiful white marble building with a golden dome. The interior of the gurdwara is decorated with intricate paintings and murals.
The gurdwara is a popular pilgrimage site for Sikhs from all over the world. Every year, on the occasion of Bandi Chhor Divas, lakhs of Sikhs visit the gurdwara to pay homage to Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji.
