Dipor Bil, also spelled Deepor Beel, is a large freshwater lake located south-west of Guwahati city, Assam, India. It is a permanent freshwater lake formed from an old channel of the Brahmaputra River. The lake itself is quite large, sprawling over 40 square kilometers, with 4.14 square kilometers designated as a bird sanctuary in 1989 by the Assam government . In 2002, it was further recognized for its ecological importance and listed as a Ramsar site under the Ramsar Convention.
