Dada Hari Wav, also called Bai Harir Vav, is an intricately carved stepwell in Ahmedabad's Asarwa area. Built in the late fifteenth century, its descending levels combine practical water architecture with finely worked stone columns, galleries and geometric ornament. Changing light across the lower storeys makes the structure especially rewarding for architectural photography.
Allow time to walk carefully through each accessible level and observe how the temperature cools below ground. Morning light is often comfortable for a visit. The stone can be uneven or slippery, so sturdy footwear is advisable, and visitors should respect barriers and avoid touching delicate carved surfaces.
